1. INPUT DEVICES.
What are input devices?
In computing, an input device is a piece of equipment used to provide data and control signals to an information processing system such as a computer or information appliance.


2. EXAMPLES OF INPUT DEVICES
Examples of input devices are;
(a). Keyboards.  (b). Mouse    (c)Scanners.  (d). Cameras (e). Microphones, etc.

(a). Keyboards:
The keyboard is an input device that allows you to enter letters, numbers and symbols into your computer. The keyboard keys include the alphanumeric keys (letters and numbers), numeric keypad (may not be available on netbooks/laptops), special function keys, mouse cursor moving keys, and status lights.


(b)  Mouse:
A mouse is a small hardware input device used by hand. It controls the movement of the cursor on the computer screen and allows users to move and select folders, text, files, and icons on a computer.

(c) Scanners:
scanner, also called optical scanner, computer input device that uses a light beam to scan codes, text, or graphic images directly into a computer or computer system. Bar-code scanners are used widely at point-of-sale terminals in retail stores

(d).  Cameras:

Camera  is an input device that takes pictures digitally. Images are stored as data on memory cards. It has an LCD screen that allows users to preview and review images.

(e) Microphones:


Microphone imusic input device to input sound that is then stored in a digital form. The microphone is used for various applications such as adding sound to a multimedia presentation or for mixing music.

3. OUTPUT DEVICES:
An output device is any piece of computer hardware equipment which converts information into human readable form. It can be text, graphics, tactile, audio, and video.

4. EXAMPLES OF OUTPUT DEVICES
Examples of Output Devices are:
  • Monitor.
  • Printer.
  • Computer Speakers.
  • Projector.
(a). Monitor:


A computer monitor is an output device that displays information in pictorial or text form. A monitor usually comprises the visual display, circuitry, casing, and power supply. ... Originally, computer monitors were used for data processing while television sets were used for entertainment.

(b). Printers:
A printer is basically an output device which prints a hard copy of the electronic data that is stored in the computer or any other devices. The electronic data may include documents, text, images or even the combination of all three. Particular printers are available for printing particular data types.

(c). Speakers:

A computer speaker is an output hardware device that connects to a computer to generate sound. The signal used to produce the sound that comes from a computer speaker is created by the computer's sound card.
(d) Projectors:
A projector is an output device that can take images from a computer and display them on a screen, wall or another surface. The surface projected onto is usually large, flat and lightly colored. There are either still (slides) or moving images that can be produced by projectors.
